Continuous Professional Development (CPD) is a long-term commitment to improving                                                                                your knowledge and skill set. Crane Building Services & Utilities were pleased to have Chris Parsloe of Parsloe Consulting present their CPD on Variable Flow Systems at M&E 2009 exhibition.  The presentation was well attended and received by a very knowledgeable audience.  Chris is the author of several BSRIA publications and is presently involved with the rewriting of the CIBSE Commissioning Codes W and BSRIA Application Guide.

The presentation,Variable Flow Systems incorporating Differential Pressure Control Valves (DPCV’s), covered the affects of variable flow:

  • on 2 port control valves
  • risk of cavitation
  • positioning DPCV's in terminal branches
  • commissioning DPCV's
  • pump speed control
  • location of pressure sensors

 

The presentation finished by outlining the concept of Flow Management Systems in the form of a centralised valve module.
