Crane FS Project Valves, including ball, butterfly, check and strainers were supplied via BSS for installation within the energy centre, which supplies heated water throughout the development at King’s Cross, London.
The 67-acre mixed use development includes 2,000 new homes, new offices and retail space, 20 new streets and 10 public spaces, creating an entirely new piece of the city with its own postcode.
Crane FS valves will be installed in a site-wide Combined Heat and Power (CHP) driven hot water distribution network fed from a central energy centre. This is just one of the methods used on this site to cut energy consumption. Others include energy efficient buildings achieving a minimum BREAAM of ‘Excellent’ roof-mounted wind turbines, ground source heat pumps and rainwater harvesting.
The first buildings have been inhabited since autumn 2012.
