Crane Fluid Systems’ PICV

Crane Fluid Systems provided PICV valves to the construction of the Manchester’s new arts centre and cultural quarter, First Street.

The £19M venue, in the city centre, houses two theatres, five cinemas, gallery and restaurant space and anchors a major regeneration scheme that transformed Manchester’s southern gateway. It also provides a new joint home for the city’s Library Theatre Company and Cornerhouse.

The build also features a 208-bed, four star hotel, 700 space multi-storey car park and 30,000 square feet of shopping, food and drink and leisure facilities. There is also a new public square which hosts outdoor performances, and two theatres seat 500 and 150 people respectively.

The scheme, designed by Beetham Tower architect Ian Simpson and Dutch firm Mecanoo, was given the go ahead by planners at Manchester town hall. The plans form part of a wider £80M investment in the First Street area which is ultimately expected to create up to 10,000 new jobs.
