Specification

Crane FS Butterfly Valves, Cast Iron Double Regulating Valves (DRVs), Check Valves and Strainers

Crane Fluid Systems have supplied Butterfly Valves, Cast Iron DRVs, Strainer and Check Valves to Canary Wharf Contractors (Crossrail) Limited, for the Crossrail shopping centre, located above the new Crossrail station at Canary Wharf, London.

The Canary Wharf Crossrail station will be one of the largest at six storeys high and forms part of a plan to revitalise Britain’s aged railway network and relieve overcrowding on the main lines.

Crossrail, set to open in 2018, is currently the biggest infrastructure project in Europe. The route stretches 118km, from Maidenhead and Heathrow in the west, underneath central London in 21km-long twin-bore tunnels via Paddington, the West End, Liverpool Street and Canary Wharf, to Shenfield and Abbey Wood in the east.

The Crane FS valves will be installed within the HVAC system in the retail centre, which will occupy four of the six storeys along with a landscaped park, restaurant and community facility on the top floor. The station will be covered by an elegant, semi open-air timber lattice roof, allowing views out over the dock of Canary Wharf and beyond.

The Canary Wharf station has been designed and constructed on behalf of Crossrail by Canary Wharf Contractors Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Canary Wharf Group plc. It is being built for a fixed price of £500m.
